Destine is Holland’s response to bands such as Paramore, Fall Out Boy and All Time Low. With its distinctive American sound and appearance, it seems like only a matter of time before Destine becomes an established name in Europe. Their debut album ‘Lightspeed’ was released in the Netherlands in February 2010 and was an instant success. The album and singles reached the charts, had lots of radio airplay and the band played the country’s most well known festivals Lowlands and Pinkpop. In November 2011, the album will be released in thirteen European countries.
The single ‘Stars’ is on the playlist of all of Holland’s biggest radio stations for over 9 months. Radio station 538 also acknowledges the band’s potential by picking ‘Stars’ as radio smash hit of the week in September 2009. The band’s first two music videos, both recorded in San Francisco, are YouTube-smashers with both around half a million views; ‘ Stars’ has also been nominated for ‘Video of the Year’ at the Dutch MTV-channel. All this attention translates to the ticket sales for their first headlining tour in early 2010, with 12 sold out shows.
Back in time. Destine kicks off in 2007 with the ambition to play and work their asses of. They release their first EP and play over 200 shows in 3 years, both domestic and abroad. Besides that they invest a lot of time in their online activities on social and digital media, this way they create direct interaction with their fans. Everybody can get a direct band insight too on DestineTV, a platform with unique band content. In December 2008 Destine signs with record label Sony Music and travels to Orlando, Florida to record the debut album with producer James Paul Wisner, who worked with bands like Paramore and New Found Glory. He is impressed by the songs and is convinced that the band has the potential of achieving international success.
Aside from their domestic shows, the band has a wider focus. They’ve toured in more than 10 different European countries, supported bands like Fall Out Boy, All Time Low and New Found Glory and have done a full European tour with UK-rockers The Blackout. The debut album ‘Lightspeed’ will be released all over Europe by Rude Records in November 2010, supported by a string of European tourdates. With a new single and video ‘Down’, the kick off for a new season of DestineTV and the listing of ‘ In Your Arms’ in the popular game ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2011, Destine’s profile is still growing. In the Netherlands, the band will end the year 2010 with a new headline tour.
